The Marketplace is a huge web site where designers list their SL creations for sale or even as freebies. You can log into the Marketplace to browse and purchase their virtual goods using Linden dollars (L$). Shopping via Marketplace is fun and often quicker than teleporting from one in-world store to another. A lovely new camp site has been set up at Daydream Island in Second Life. It has great poses for friendly gatherings or for couples with romance in mind. Guaranteed no mosquitoes or other nasty creepy crawlies!
Designer This fantastic rezzable set is called 'CUDDLE CAMP' and is made in-world by Anpuli Lifestyle. It comes with over 300 Animations! Movie making in virtual worlds is known as Machinima. This is a wonderful example! Winner of the 2011 University of Western Australia, 'Open This End Award of Excellence in Directing'. Trying to do something in SL but don't know how? Well, the easiest way to learn is to have someone show you. There's a huge range of SL video tutorials available. The ones on SL's web site can be browsed by category or you can use a search term. They range from basic stuff for noobs, through to more advanced info for hard core long-timers. You'll need to login to access these.
Alternatively, you can google videos for whatever it is you want to learn. Just make sure you include 'SL' or 'Second Life' in your google search. Natalia Zelmanov (bit of a mouth-full that name!) has a fantastic Blog about SL called Mermaid Diaries. When I was a newbie I referred to it often but it's worth reading even if you have been in SL a while.
It's full of interesting and helpful information on many SL topics like: - Getting Started in SL Guide - Building tutorials and techniques - Dating - Places to see, and - LOTS more! Oh, yeah! Saphy went crazy and started... building! Really? LOL Well, I admit it, it's not really building, because I used sculpties and I had a model. But I'm sooooo proud of myself! Oh, yes. Forgot to tell: it's a gazebo! I will probably stop after this experience and return to my usual activities... like dancing and chatting. I know how to do these things very well. And I don't need sculpties!
Ok, seriously speaking. How do you guys do it? For me, building in SL is a huge mistery. You have to be creative, you have to have skills for it! Plus, you REALLY need to learn HOW to do things. I don't have the patience for it, to be honest. I truly admire builders in SL. They're like... gurus to me! But, I think not everybody is made for that kind of stuff. Some of us are good in other areas. Some are builders. Some make textures. Some make small games for smartphones. That makes Daydream Island so cool, if you ask me. I have met here so many people, with so many areas of activity. Lawyers, teachers, doctors, journalists (:P), managers of all kinds... And we all fit in here. Because, to a point, we all have something in common. No matter what we are good at. So, don't be afraid to come and say HI. We can find so many discussion topics! Plus, we don't bite! Biting is not allowed on DDI. But you will sure meet some lovely vamps in here. Because everybody loves Daydream!! Till soon, Saphy |
